Good to know.
What is a WhatsApp chat widget?
It's a floating WhatsApp button that sits in the corner of your website. When a visitor clicks it, a small chat popup opens with your greeting, and one more tap takes them straight into a WhatsApp conversation with you — with your message pre-typed. It removes every step between “interested visitor” and “message in your inbox.”
Do I need to write code or hire a developer?
No. You design the widget here, copy one snippet, and paste it into your site once — before the closing </body> tag, or into your platform's “custom code / footer” box. There's nothing to configure in the code itself; everything is set through this tool.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
It's completely free with no sign-up and no monthly fee. Most chat-widget tools charge ₹500–₹2,000 a month for exactly this. The snippet is yours to keep — it keeps working even if you never come back. In return, the popup carries a small, tasteful “Powered by heyhomie.me” credit. That's the only catch.
Do I need to keep this tab open, or save anything, for the widget to keep working?
No. The snippet is completely self-contained — all your settings are baked into the code you copy. Once it's pasted on your site it works forever on its own: there's no file to host and nothing that ever calls back to HeyHomie, so closing this tab (or this whole site going away) changes nothing on your site. For your convenience, your configuration is also remembered in this browser, so if you come back later you can pick up where you left off, adjust the widget, and paste the updated code over the old one.
Will it slow my website down?
No. The widget is a single, self-contained snippet — it loads no external files, no jQuery, no third-party library. It's a few kilobytes of inline code that runs only in the visitor's browser, so there's nothing for it to fetch and nothing to track.
Where do I paste the code on Shopify / WordPress / Wix?
On Shopify, open your theme code and paste it just above </body> in theme.liquid. On WordPress, use a “custom HTML / footer scripts” plugin or your theme's footer-code box. On Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Framer, look for the “custom code” or “footer” setting in site settings and paste it there. It goes in once and shows on every page.
Does my phone number stay private?
Your number only ever exists inside the snippet you copy — it's never sent to or stored on any server. The widget simply builds a standard wa.me link in the visitor's browser. You're in full control of where that code lives.
Can I change the colour, position and greeting?
Yes — accent colour, which corner it sits in, the greeting bubble, the pre-filled message, the button labels, an optional avatar and a teaser nudge are all configurable. If you want to change something later, just rebuild it here and paste the new snippet over the old one.
The widget starts the chat.
HeyHomie finishes the sale.
A floating button gets them to message you. Then the real work begins. HeyHomie replies in 10 languages, shares your catalogue, takes the payment and ships the order — automatically, around the clock. Turn every “price pls” into a paid order.
